Many people today purchase and hold precious metals in order to preserve their wealth. Every year, the amount of new gold & silver being mined is very small compared to the amount in circulation. As the dollar loses its value due to inflation, precious metals often rise in price.

The most common items that first time buyers could be interested in are 1 gram bars of gold, American eagles, silver rounds, and constitutional silver.

1 Gram bars of gold: This is typically the smallest unit of gold
that people buy or sell. Buying one gram is a great option for
those who don’t want to spend 4 or 5 thousand dollars on a
whole ounce of gold.

American Eagles: Gold American eagle coins are US currency
and come in 1/10 ounce, ¼ ounce, ½ ounce, and 1 ounce
sizes. There are also one ounce silver eagles. These are
popular coins for those holding gold and silver.

Silver Rounds: These are typically one ounce silver rounds
which resemble coins but are not official government
currency. They are a good way to start saving silver.

Constitutional Silver: Often referred to as “junk silver”, these
are older United States coins which are made of silver. Often
they are 90% silver by weight, these coins are official US
currency that trade at a higher value due to their metal
content. Constitutional silver is a good way to buy silver in
small amounts.
